WHO WE ARE
LEADERSHIPMeet the Sr Servants of the World Prayer Center
The World Prayer Center® is a global Christian ministry built on prayer, faith, and service. Our ministry exists to encourage believers worldwide through prayer, biblical teaching, and spiritual support. The site currently describes this mission as becoming a leading source for Christian prayer resources and using technology to share Jesus Christ’s message and strengthen believers worldwide through prayer. At the heart of this ministry are two servant leaders, Ray and Karent Mitchell, whose lives of service have been guided by prayer, ministry, and God’s direction. And the words of Jesus requiring leaders to be servants.
Senior Minister
Ray Mitchell
Ray Mitchell’s life and ministry have been shaped by prayer from a very early age.
He is one of seven children whose mother passed away when he was six years old. At that time, the oldest child was thirteen, and the youngest was not yet two. Their father was suddenly left to raise seven children on his own.
Before she died, Ray’s mother used her final breaths to pray that God would protect her children. As they stood around her bedside, the children saw a powerful example of faith. Even as she was dying, she trusted in the Lord. Her life showed them that death cannot separate us from the love of God.
That final prayer became an important part of their family’s story. Even today, Ray and his brothers and sisters believe that God answered their mother’s prayers. Her prayer life made a deep impact on Ray’s faith and taught him to trust God’s love during hard times, loss, and uncertainty.
After her passing, the older children stepped up to help care for the family. The oldest brother began cooking for the others, and the oldest sister made sure the younger children kept saying their prayers each night before bed. In these ways, their mother’s faith and love continued to live on in the home.
That early experience taught Ray a lesson he has carried throughout his life: prayer is not just a religious habit — it is a lifeline.
Over the years, that foundation grew into a life of ministry and service. Ray has served in Christian ministry for more than 30 years, in roles ranging from Assistant Pastor at a homeless shelter ministry to Associate Minister at a megachurch. He holds a Master’s in Ministry and has ministered in the United States, the Middle East, and Asia.
Throughout Ray’s military career, God placed him in strategic assignments that prepared him to work with people, leaders, and organizations on an international level. He served at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq as the senior military logistics adviser to the U.S. Ambassador and as the senior military logistics officer working with the Iraqi military. He also served as the Senior Logistics Liaison Officer for the Eighth U.S. Army, where he worked to support shared goals between the United States Army and the Republic of Korea Army. In addition, he served as the Deputy Commandant of the U.S. Army Logistics University with students from several foreign armies. Through these roles, he gained valuable experience in leadership, diplomacy, and global cooperation. These assignments helped equip him to build relationships across cultures and nations, and they continue to shape the global vision and outreach of the World Prayer Center today.
Leadership
Karent Mitchell
Her life and ministry reflect a deep love for God, a heart for discipleship, and a strong commitment to serving others. For many years, she has been involved in Christian outreach, especially in the Dominican Republic, where her work has included encouragement, education, discipleship, and faith-based service.
Karent also brings a strong background in education. She was named Teacher of the Year twice at Saint George School in Santo Domingo, a highly respected private school recognized for academic excellence and as one of the leading British international schools in the Dominican Republic. Her success in the classroom showed both her skill as an educator and her dedication to helping young people grow and succeed.
She later carried that same passion into her own community. More than 15 years ago, Karent started a Saturday Bible class for children in her neighborhood. That ministry continues to this day and stands as a lasting example of her love for children, her faithfulness in service, and her desire to teach God’s Word.
Together, Ray and Karent share a heart for ministry, global outreach, and helping others experience the love and faithfulness of God. Her testimony, service, and leadership continue to help shape the heart of this ministry today.
How Prayer and Prophecy Brought Us Together
Prayer not only shaped Ray’s early life. It also became part of the story of how Ray and Karent were brought together.
While serving in South Korea, Ray prayed and asked God for a wife. During that season, the story of Isaac and Rebekah was placed strongly in his spirit. At the time, he did not fully understand how personal that biblical story would become.
Around that same time, in the Dominican Republic, Karent — whom Ray did not yet know — received a prophecy that she would need to be like Rebekah and follow Isaac.
They were in different countries, living separate lives, yet God was already at work in both of their lives.
Only later did they come to understand that God had been preparing their hearts and aligning their paths before they ever met. What began as prayer and spiritual confirmation became a shared testimony of God’s faithfulness, His timing, and His ability to guide lives according to His purpose.
Visiting Holy Place
Ray and Karent embarked on a spiritual journey to a sacred place, seeking peace and enlightenment. As they walked through the peaceful pathways, the air was filled with the scent of incense, and the soft hum of prayers echoed. The serenity of the surroundings calmed their minds, and they marveled at the intricate architecture of the temples. Rays of sunlight filtered through the trees, creating a golden glow around them. Together, they meditated, feeling deeply connected to the divine. The experience not only strengthened their bond but also filled them with a sense of purpose and tranquility.
