Ephesians 5: 22-30
“Wives and Husbands”
June 29, 2026
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.
Devotional Thought:
This passage teaches about the roles of husbands and wives in marriage. Wives are called to submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ, while husbands are commanded to love their wives with the same self-sacrificing love Christ showed for the church. The emphasis is on mutual respect, love, and care, where both partners support each other in a relationship modeled after Christ’s love for His people.
Prayer Focus:
Heavenly Father, help us to reflect Your love in our relationships. Teach husbands and wives to love, respect, and care for each other as You care for the church. May our marriages be filled with selflessness, unity, and Your grace.

Requests for Prayer and Grace
Praying for Oneself
Dear Lord,
In the midst of this season of grief, I turn to you, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, as
mentioned in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. My heart is heavy, and I seek the solace that only you can provide.
You promised in Matthew 5:4 that those who mourn will be comforted. I come before you with my grief,
asking for your comfort to surround me like a gentle embrace. Lord, heal the brokenness in my heart
and bind up the wounds that come with loss, as Psalm 147:3 assures.
In the darkness of this valley, as I walk through the shadow of death, according to Psalm 23:4, be my
guiding light. May I fear no evil, knowing that you are with me, comforting me with your rod and staff.
I cling to the hope found in Revelation 21:4, trusting that you will wipe away every tear from my eyes.
Bring a new morning of rejoicing after this night of weeping. Let me experience the peace that
transcends understanding.
Lord, as Romans 8:38-39 declares, I believe that neither death nor life can separate me from your love.
Help me find strength and assurance in your unchanging love during this time of grief.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer for a Person Seeking God’s Favor for Themselves:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you with a heart full of gratitude for your promises of favor as found in your Word. As I
seek your favor in my life, I cling to the words of Psalm 84:11, trusting that you bestow favor and honor
upon those who walk blamelessly before you.
Lord, I commit my endeavors to you, asking that you establish the work of my hands, as Psalm 90:17
declares. May your favor rest upon my actions and decisions, guiding me in the path you have set before
me.
I pray for a heart filled with love and faithfulness, as Proverbs 3:3-4 encourages, that I may win favor and
a good name in the sight of both you and those around me. Let your favor be a shield, protecting me in
all aspects of my life.
Just as Daniel found favor in the eyes of the official in Daniel 1:9, I ask for your divine influence in my
interactions with others. May I find favor in the workplace, in my relationships, and in all areas of my
life.
Lord, according to 2 Corinthians 6:2, I believe that now is the time of your favor. I trust in your perfect
timing and pray that you open doors of opportunity, bringing forth your blessings in my life.
In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Prayer for a Person Seeking Financial Blessing for Themselves:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I humbly come before you, acknowledging your promise that you will meet all my needs according to
your riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Lord, I seek your financial blessing in my life, trusting in
your abundance and provision.
I commit my finances to you, recognizing the importance of honoring you with my wealth and the
firstfruits of my income (Proverbs 3:9-10). I believe in your promise to fill my barns to overflowing as I
walk in obedience to your Word.
As I seek first your kingdom and righteousness, in accordance with Matthew 6:33, I trust that you will
provide all my needs. Open the floodgates of heaven in my life, Lord, as I strive to live according to your
will.
I ask for the ability to give generously, knowing that with the measure I use, it will be measured to me
(Luke 6:38). May my acts of giving bring about a bountiful harvest, not only in my finances but in every
area of my life.
Lord, I pray for financial breakthroughs, for opportunities to be a blessing to others, and for your
wisdom to steward my resources wisely. May the principles of Deuteronomy 28:12 be evident in my life
as you open the heavens and pour out your blessings.
I trust in your promise that the righteous are never forsaken, and their children do not beg for bread
(Psalm 37:25). I believe in your provision, and I thank you in advance for the financial blessings that are
on the way.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer of Salvation
Heavenly Father,
I come before you with a heart that yearns for salvation and a desire to know You personally. I recognize
my need for a Savior, and I am grateful for the gift of salvation through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner, and I acknowledge that I cannot save myself. I believe in my
heart that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for my sins, and that You rose again from
the dead. I repent of my sins and turn away from a life separated from You.
I invite You into my heart, Jesus, to be my Lord and Savior. Wash away my sins with your precious blood
and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I surrender my life to You and ask for your guidance and grace each
day.
Thank you, Father, for the gift of salvation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. I receive this gift with
gratitude, knowing that it is by your grace that I am saved.
May my life now be a reflection of your love and mercy. Help me to walk in obedience to your Word and
to share the good news of salvation with others.
In Jesus; name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer for a Person Praying for Their Own Protection:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I humbly come before you, acknowledging your sovereignty and your promise of protection. As I
navigate the challenges of life, I claim the assurance of Psalm 3:3 that you are a shield around me, lifting
my head high.
In moments of uncertainty, I declare Isaiah 41:10 over my life – that I need not fear, for you are with me,
strengthening and upholding me with your righteous right hand. Let your Word be a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path, guiding me in the way of safety.
I trust in your promise from Psalm 91:11-12, that your angels guard me in all my ways. May I find refuge
in your name, as stated in Proverbs 18:10, knowing that you are my fortified tower.
Lord, in times of distress, I claim the truth of Psalm 34:7 – that the angel of the Lord encamps around
me, delivering me from every danger. I cast all my anxieties on you, as instructed in 1 Peter 5:7, knowing
that you care for me.
May your protective hand be upon me, guarding me from the schemes of the enemy. I commit myself
into your hands, trusting in your faithfulness and the promises of your Word.
In Jesus; name, I pray. Amen.
Persecution
I come before you in a spirit of humility, knowing that you are our refuge and strength in times of
trouble. As I face persecution for my faith, I turn to you for strength, courage, and comfort.
Your Word, in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, reminds me that though I may be hard-pressed, I am not crushed;
though perplexed, I am not in despair; though persecuted, I am not abandoned; though struck down, I
am not destroyed. I cling to these promises, trusting that your grace is sufficient for me.
In the midst of the challenges, I declare Psalm 34:17-19 over my life. I believe that you hear my cries,
deliver me from troubles, and are close to the brokenhearted. I find solace in knowing that you save
those who are crushed in spirit.
Lord, strengthen my resolve to follow you faithfully, even when facing adversity. As John 15:18-20
reminds me that the world may hate me because I belong to you, help me to stand firm and to
remember that you chose me out of the world. Grant me the courage to endure, knowing that I am
following in the footsteps of my Master.
May I, like the disciples in Acts 14:22, be strengthened and encouraged to remain true to the faith,
understanding that hardships are part of the journey toward your kingdom.
I surrender my fears and anxieties to you, trusting that your love and presence will sustain me. In Jesus'
name, I pray. Amen.

after the night of weeping. Allow them to experience the peace that surpasses understanding.
In Jesus; name, I pray. Amen.
